Hood River County Board of Commissioners

Meeting Date/Time

3rd Monday of each month - 4 pm work session 6 pm regular meeting

If the 3rd Monday is a holiday, the meeting will be held on Tuesday of the same week. All meetings are open to the public. Times are subject to change, if you plan to attend a meeting, please call the Administration office at the number below to verify the start time. Unless otherwise noted all meetings are held at 601 State Street in Hood River.

Ron and his wife are long-time residents of Hood River Valley. They have two children that graduated from Oregon universities. Ron graduated from OCE(WOC) in 1968 with a BS in education. He served as a Medical Operations Officer in the Oregon National Guard. He and his family have been dedicated in making the pear industry more viable since 1970. Ron has been very active in the agricultural industry. He is currently serving as a Board of Director for various industry commissions. Ron has been deeply involved in the community in the past. He sees this opportunity to serve the residents of the community as a chance to give something back to the County.

Karen has lived in Hood River since 1975. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Public Administration from Portland State University.

Karen and her husband, Todd Clay, have two children and have owned and operated Gorge Electric, Inc. since 1999 and more recently Gorge Audio Video, Inc. She has numerous years of experience in social service working with children and families as well as serving on the Board of Directors for a community action development council.

Karen has a strong interest in the development of effective public policy and the wise use of public resources. She is committed to the success and vitality of Hood River County and welcomes the opportunity to play a role in the stewardship of its future.

Maui Meyer lives in, and represents the City of Hood River on the County Commission. Maui moved to Hood River n 1991 after graduating college, where he met his wife Janellen. Married since 1997, they have three children. Maui has been active in community life during his time in Hood River, helping start the Hood River Downtown Association, among other pursuits. An avowed entrepreneur, Maui spends his non-commission time running a community development company based upon the precepts of the sustainable business model. You can find him most days in downtown Hood River, or on the water, when he is not trying to keep up with his children.

Les is married to Stephanie who teaches Kindergarten at Mid Valley Elementary. Les and Stephanie have two children. Les grew up in the Hood River Valley and graduate from Hood River Valley High School. He earned a BS in biology from Lewis and Clark College. Les has owned his own business, worked for a local laboratory as a microbiologist, and now works for Farmers Conservation Alliance, a local non-profit organization focusing on energy and water issues.
