Who is behind this site?

 
We are two thirty-something NYC lawyers who met while practicing law together. We now drink wine together and tell you about how our government works.

Unless otherwise noted, Kim writes all the content. She got her BA in Political Science from Columbia University, Columbia College and her JD from Fordham. Kim practiced complex civil litigation at large law firms in the city for about 5 years before opening her own practice. In her free time, Kim has also worked on a variety of political campaigns.

Liz manages the website and social media pages and generally makes sure things run smoothly so Kim can do her magic and explain to us all exactly what this whole democracy thing is about. Liz got her BA in English from Princeton University and her JD from Columbia Law School. After practicing law for about six years, she joined an edtech startup where she runs operations.

We started this site because Liz realized, despite her extensive and costly education, she either couldn't remember or never really knew how our government works. Meanwhile, Kim was tired of explaining over and over again to people like Liz the intricacies of the U.S. system of democracy.
